If you’re a local, you know that we’re in the middle of the winter break. School holidays here are two weeks (give or take a few days) and here at Junktion we take a little break too. So, to make sure you’re still getting your thrift-fill and finding those awesome second-hand goodies this season, we’ve put together a quick list of some of our favourite Adelaide spots. While we might be closed for a couple of weeks, you can still get out and about and find some new-to-you treasures at one of these nifty places and then when term 3 kicks off, you can pop in and see what new knick knacks we have on our shelves!
This little gem is in our old neck of the woods. 387 Diagonal Rd, Sturt is where you’ll find this sweet little place simply brimming with pre-loved goodies – clothes, baby items, household gear and books. They support a great cause too, so you know that your dollars are going to help others when you buy from here.
In the bustling heart of Glenelg as well as vibrant Port Adelaide, you’ll find this little baby. A project arm of CityLight Church, the proceeds from these op-shops support local community efforts in a variety of ways and their prices are dirt cheap! Everything is $3 or under, so you can’t go wrong!
This is a quaint shop in Cumberland Park, an easy access spot on Goodwood Road. They also sell everything from kids clothes to books and accessories and homewares, and offer EFTPOS as well. A little bonus of this store is that their hours suit everyone because they’re open 7 days a week!
This is a little further past the city than we usually trek, but well worth it. With shelves stocked with everything you could possibly be on the look out, you know shopping here will mean you leave with your arms full. The prices are on point, too. They aren’t open every day though, so make sure you check before you drive all the way out there.
Definitely one we can’t go past, even if it’s a bit of a bigger chain store than our other favourites. If you haven’t been a Savers yet (one in Noarlunga, Prospect and Modbury) then you absolutely should. Not only are they a major support of Diabetes SA, but they are HUGE! They stock clothing, homewares, books, kids gear, toys and even larger pieces of furniture. If there’s something you’re after, there is a good chance you’ll find it at a Savers! They also take large donations too.
There you have it! 5 of our favourite locations in Adelaide to grab up a thrifty bargain! Of course, there are HUNDREDS more out there, so don’t stop at our little list! And if you have some favourites or regulars of your, please let us know! Sometimes the best advertisement for the independently run places is word of mouth from pleased customers.
Have a blessed week – we will see you when we’re back on deck in just a short while!
