Goodbye to another year

Who else can believe that we’ve hit yet another New Year? It’s officially 2025 today!

Towards the end of 2024, we hosted our annual Thanksgiving Fair as a way of bringing together other local collectives, offering a community space and closing out our year with smiles and coffee. It was another awesome Saturday and we saw Cultivate What Matters, The Big Squeeze and Retro Kitsch join us.

Why do we love these little events so much? Well, they’re all about you! These are the kinds of spaces that draw people out of the woodwork. You’ve been meaning to drop past our little op shop in Happy Valley, but time has never been on your side. Then, we advertise our Thanksgiving Fair and you think, they’re open a little longer that Satuday so I can definitely get along this time!

You bring a friend or two, your four legged baby and you support local. You buy flowers or seeds or a plant from Cultivate What Matters; you get a refreshing lemonade from a young entrepreneur and you grab a vintage serving dish just like Nanna used to have from Retro Kitsch. Doing all these small things draws you into our store and you sit down for a browse through the books and just like that, you’ve supported four local and home-grown businesses in the space of a Saturday morning.

This is epic, because we’re all about local and community! So thank you – thank you for making it a priority to join us last year for our Thanksgiving Fair. We hope you’ll keep it in the back of your mind for this year too!

It’s been a huge year here at Junktion! We say it all the time, but we are truly grateful for the support of the local community (yes, you!) and even those who come from further away to check us out. You are the reason we exist – to offer you a safe space to contribute to the reduce, reuse and recycling movement and also as a safe space to sit down for a breath of fresh air. We all need those moments, where there is nothing expected of us. We can just be. Well, we want that for you – so we’re continuing on in 2025 and kicking things off a little earlier than usual.

Opening our doors two weeks before school officially goes back means that you will have extra days in which to pop in and see us, and take advantage of that summer weather for our outdoor areas.

Bring the kids. Bring your four legged baby. Bring your work if you have to, because we will be here and ready for you.

We will happily take your in-good-condition donations too (please keep in mind the size of our store). So as a new year starts to uncoil itself, full of promise and hope for fresh things, we hope to see you very soon in our little corner of Adelaide for a thrifting or coffee session! Bring on 2025!

Junktion is currently closed for the school holidays and will reopen towards the end of January. Stay tuned!
