Changing Seasons

If you’re like us, you welcome the cooler months with open arms! This week marks the first week of Autumn, and we are stoked! It not only means cosy drinks, scarves and falling leaves but it also means a chance to update the seasonal wardrobe or home decor!

We can help with this. Because we’re an op shop and thrift is our middle name, we have a high turnover of stock. Our donations aren’t necessarily specific to the seasons, but we do our best to change what’s available in store when we can. As the weather shifts, we put away our summer tops and bring back out our collection of preloved jackets and coats, for example. You can do the same – go through your wardrobe or your kid’s closet and pull out the summer gear that you wore this season. If you only wore it once or twice, maybe it’s time to send it on to us. This is especially true for kids, as they outgrow things within weeks of buying it! We can then set your summer gear aside for the next warm season while you shop for cooler season items instead. If you’re trying to hang onto these warmer months though – go for it! We still have a huge variety of different pieces waiting for you to come and see.

Perhaps you like to update your decor with the season changes too. We can help there as well! Some of our stock is perfect for changing up what you have on display at home. Maybe you’re after more muted tones to fit the cloudier skies and the darker leaves – come and check out our various homewares. These also change rapidly with new stock donations and purchases each week – there’s always something to find in our little corner of Adelaide!

The great thing about the season changes is that you can change with them. You can start something fresh – a hobby or a good book or a deep clean – and flow along with the shifts in the weather. In Japan, many people still follow 24 seasons – imagine having this much change throughout your year! Maybe this is something you want to take advantage of as we walk into Autumn here in Australia. Maybe having extra chances for change and growth is a good thing and offers you the space to nurture something new more regularly in your life while you give yourself the grace to make mistakes and try again.

Nothing says you have to have everything figured out every season – in fact, that’s kind of the point. Starting fresh and starting over again means we can be kind to ourselves. Enjoy this moment, look at the leaves as they change and fall and watch the clouds as they darken with the promise of refreshing and rejuvenating rains as the weeks roll on. Lean in to change. It’s the only constant.
